Freeman, Tonya


Education Specialist, CDC

Tonya Freeman is a native of Atlanta, GA.  She attended elementary and high school in the Dekalb County School System and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Statistics.  She has worked at Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for over 20 years.  Her background includes Statistics, Information Technology, and currently she works as an Education Specialist with the CDC University and manages the School of Public Health Information Resources Management.  She is also a certified facilitator for “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”  While at CDC, she has participated in the CDC and Tilson Elementary Partners in Education (PIE) Mentoring Program.  This program was a partnership with CDC and Dekalb County Schools.  In addition, she has participated in lock-ins, career days, and various talks to teen girls.  Currently, she is the program coordinator for the HHS CDC/ASTDR Mentoring Program which matches full-time employees with a career mentor. Other memberships/affiliations include: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Association of Professional Women (APW), CDC East Lake United Methodist Church New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Tonya’s personal interests and hobbies have always evolved around charm and image.  She is the founder of Dolls to Divas, Inc.  She has a strong interest in the growth and maturity of young ladies and a passion at encouraging them to strive to achieve their own personal goals.   “Image is Key” is her philosophy.
